2018
12th August 2018 - 12 August 2019 (Germany)

I'm working as Business Analyst (Global Talent Program) in one of the leading global healthcare companies, Roche in Mannheim, Germany. In that time, I was directly interviewed by the hiring manager for CRM and Complaint Handling Management in DIA IT Department.

So here is the story before...

I know and I have been becoming an AIESEC Student Ambassador or what we called Exchange Participant since 2015.

In 2015, I started my first semester in university and I challenged myself to do a volunteering program abroad. I love children, I love helping people, new experiences, meeting new people, and feeling the cultural experience abroad and so that is why I was joining that program.

It was only a month doing the program. I was going to Chongqing China and there I was meeting many students from abroad.

I had been thinking that I love being a part of this community, the people and AIESEC and I had a plan to do another program of AIESEC named Global Talent which is intended to be able to do an internship abroad, but at that time I was too young to do so I had been thinking that I would do the internship abroad directly after completing my Bachelor Degree since I knew that it would be a huge opportunity to get a good position or maybe as a permanent employee after finishing the internship abroad in the company we worked.

And yeah... time passed by, I got busy doing things, research, many projects as a communication student we had to a lot of team works, etc.

On my 5th semester , I think it was in 2016. I was reading on the Wall Magazine of my campus. It was an Open Application for EU SHARE Scholarship Batch 2 and it was a full scholarship for students to do an exchange semester abroad *only ASEAN that time, and my lecturer also told us about that.

I was so curious and went to my university International Office to get more information about it.

I was preparing the application while doing many projects for my study. I got my TOEFL test and prepared many things for it. I was applying myself for it and the university that I was so in love with, Taylor's University Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. It was one of the best private universities in Malaysia or yeah in Asia.

I realized that it was not easy to be accepted since it was a full scholarship and the university was great.

But, thank God! I got the Letter of Acceptance from Taylor's University for the Bachelor of Mass Communication majoring in Public Relations and Marketing and also got the full scholarship from EU-SHARE to study there as an exchange student.

Time passed by, I had done my student Visa and departed to Malaysia. Besides studying, I also joined many students club there, such as being a marketing division member for ETC Campus Magazine, being a singer member on TU LIVE Music Club, Model United Nations Club training, and also doing part-time jobs in e-Learning Office.

All the subjects I learned there were taught in English, and also I was using English for daily conversation.

I love being independent, I mean living alone abroad, take care of myself, organize everything on my own. I love to learn something new, I am not afraid to face the culture shock tho, and I feel like It was just good for me, and yeah I think this kind of thing helped me a lot to be who I am right now.

It was such an amazing experience that I got.

The university was great, the subjects were very important for my future career (Crisis Management, Innovative Media, Communication Research and Intercultural Communication).

Well, I also enjoyed my exchange semester :D I was traveling with my friends and my family also visited me. You can see more stories on the other page.

Time passed by, I had done my exchange semester and I got a GPA result of 3.58, yeah I was happy but I realized that I needed a lot of things after coming back to my home university, Diponegoro University, Indonesia.

..............................................................................................

On the 31st of July 2017, I flew back to my home country. I was so busy on campus, had to meet many lecturers regarding my mandatory internship, the transfer subjects, my thesis supervisor, and so on.

I remembered the time, I was super excited to do everything as soon as possible. I divided my time for doing an internship in International Office FISIP, the reports, proposal, and to do the thesis research and also then consultation with my supervisor and prepare my self to do what's next :D

Some people said to me, it was very hard to be focused on a lot of things. But I said, I loved to do it so... and I was not the kind of person, who always stayed up late at night or too busy with my stuff, but I could manage it well, :D

I could do that within a short period of time.

On 9th May 2018, I did it! Finally, I did my thesis defense, or what we called Sidang Skripsi. Luckily I did not have many revisions for this.

But two weeks before that I joined Global Talent Program Seminar from AIESEC in Undip. After interviewing with the local committee, I was selected as an Exchange Participant and prepared my GIS Account to look for the internship opportunity.

First, I was thinking about doing an internship in Japan. But there were some requirements regarding the language, they needed us to be able to speak Japanese, but I could not. I was learning basic Japanese in High School but yeah I was not confident to communicate with people.

Time passed by, I was preparing for my graduation and also I found the opportunity that I loved, I felt it was suitable for me since the background, salary, time, and the job description was totally suitable for me.

The opportunity was Business Analyst Intern on DIA IT Communication at Roche, Mannheim, Germany. But well, yeah... I had never been thinking to do internship in Europe, but I was trying to apply and fortunately it was the last day to apply.

It took almost a month to get the announcement for the shortlisted candidates, and I was so surprised I got an email said that I was being one of the shortlisted candidates for that opportunity and not long after that I was informed that I was one of the best candidates and did the interview with the hiring manager.

I was so nervous at that time because we did the online interview by Google Hangouts Meet and it was my first time doing it. But yeah, the interview went so well, I could make it. The hiring manager was super nice and he asked me some personal questions regarding myself, and not about the company :D

He also advised me something regarding time management and yeah at that time I was not too confident and did not have a high hope for the opportunity because I know I was still young, and it was one of the big companies.

But I prayed for this, while I was preparing for my graduation.

Finally..... on the 12th of June 2018, I got a reply and said that my interview was successful and I got the opportunity , yay! I was so happy :D

Actually the internship period would be from 01.08.2018 until 31.03.2019, but I was telling my hiring manager that I was available after doing my Graduation Ceremony on the 7th of August 2018, yeah it was once of my life to do my Bachelor Graduation Ceremony tho :D I did not want to miss it.

The contract was ready and yay on the 9th of August I departed from Jakarta to Frankfurt and here I am. Germany :)

Heidelberg

My first place to stay in Germany

Before moving to Mannheim, I was staying in my AIESEC Buddy's flat in Kirchheim, Heidelberg.

I feel like I got a love on the first sight. The flat was very comfortable, the neighborhood was nice and the city was perfect.

I was staying in her place for a week, I commuted by train to go to work for about 2 hours in total ( walked to Kirchheim Rathaus Station from flat, arrived at Mannheim Main Station, took the tram number 3 to Sandhofen).

In Heidelberg, there were several things that I had done, such as visiting the Castle, strolling around Bismarckplatz, and last but not least eating in German Restaurant.

As you can see, the picture here was me in the the top of the Heidelberg Castle.. waiting for the sunset :D

Play

Sprungbude Heidelberg

Here I was playing with some friends and they said we could prove our fitness, skill and sometimes a dose of courage. At the 3D dodgeball in the Dodgeball Arena, the Slam Dunk or in the Free Jump.

Trampoline price : 15,5 €

This price included the socks that we needed to wear for jumping and it was for 60 minutes.

We came here by tram number 5A from Abendakademie Mannheim, arrived in Bismarckplatz Heidelberg and changed the tram number 26 and stopped at Messplatz.
